What Is an Anechoic Chamber and Why Is It Important?

An anechoic Chamber is a special room designed to remove external noise and echoes. It is used to test how products react to sound in a completely quiet environment. Walls, floors, and roofs are rolled with sound-absorbed materials that imitate a free-field environment, which means that the sound does not bounce back as it would in a normal room.

These rooms are required for testing of microphones, speakers, smartphones, and other electronics, especially if sound quality or noise control is important.

Project Purpose:

Google required a calm, controlled environment to complete exact tests of its audio and electronic products. Our team, working in close collaboration with them in Bengaluru, India, created a custom solution that meets their internal technical and safety standards.

The chamber was developed to meet stringent internal standards for audio and electronic product validation, ensuring minimal external noise interference and optimal testing fidelity.

This system offers effective noise reduction of up to 20 dB, creating a quieter and more controlled environment essential for accurate testing. With a low-frequency cutoff at 125 Hz, it is well-suited for evaluating deep bass tones and low-end frequency performance, making it ideal for applications that demand precise acoustic measurements in the lower frequency range.
